Audrey Trewin, OTD, OTR/L, SWC

I have been providing clients and families with pediatric occupational therapy services for twenty years. I am passionate about sensory integration, feeding, and parent education, and I understand the importance of looking at the whole child within the context of the family, home, and school environment.

My master’s degree is in occupational therapy from San Jose State University, CA, and my clinical doctorate is from Thomas Jefferson University, PA.

Part of my clinical doctorate work included developing and evaluating MealSense, to support mealtime success in the home setting for children with autism. The Evaluation of MealSense was published in the American Journal of Occupational Therapy in April of 2022.

I specialize in providing feeding support for children who have picky feeding issues, challenging mealtime behaviors, delayed oral motor skills, and difficulty progressing to solid foods. My approach is child and family-centered.

My experience in sensory integration and yoga therapy also guides my approach to feeding therapy, with an understanding that a calm and regulated child experiences better success at mealtime.

I completed the advanced training in sensory integration (SIPT certified). I have an advanced practice certification through the California Board of Occupational Therapy in Swallowing Assessment, Evaluation, or Intervention (SWC). I am trained in the SOS Approach to Feeding, Beckman Oral Motor Protocol, Functional Assessment of Tethered Oral Tissue (TOTs), Get Permission Approach to Feeding, and Sensory-Motor Approach to Feeding. I am also currently co-authoring a parent education feeding book.
